Borussia Dortmund Over the Years
The 2020–21 season for Dortmund got off to a fairly rough start. They had mixed performances in the Champions League and the Bundesliga, and they lost the DFL-Supercup. Lucien Favre was fired as manager following a devastating 5-1 loss to Stuttgart on Matchday 11.
Edin Terzi, the assistant manager, was appointed interim manager for the remainder of the campaign. During Terzi’s tenure, Dortmund lost to Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals and finished third in the Bundesliga’s final matchday. After defeating RB Leipzig 4-1 in the championship match, the squad was able to claim the DFB-Pokal.
Terzi was chosen as the club’s new technical director, while Marco Rose was named manager for the 2021–22 campaign. Later, Terzi was reappointed as manager ahead of the 2022–2023 campaign. Following a dismal 2-2 home draw against Mainz on the season’s last matchday, Dortmund, who had been leading the league standings, lost the Bundesliga championship to Bayern Munich on goal differential.
